Informational day hike around Miyun Reservoir with Yale and Princeton Clubs 

Join alumni from the Princeton Alumni Association of Beijing, the Yale Club of Beijing, and the Oxford and Cambridge Club Beijing on Saturday 18th May for a day hike to a source of Beijing’s water – the Miyun Reservoir.

What
The hike will be led by Chinese-speaking experts from the environmental education NGO Nature University (自然大学, http://www.nu.ngo.cn/) and volunteer translators, who will introduce the reservoir and its environs in the morning, followed by a hike to the nearby mountains in the afternoon.The hike will be mostly easy walking with some slopes, and the Nature University considers the route appropriate for children and the elderly. Estimated hiking duration: 4-5 hours.

In the middle of the day we will stop for a pot-luck style shared lunch in the outdoors (see below).We will return to Beijing in the evening.
Registration
Tickets are 125 RMB for members of the Princeton Alumni Association of Beijing, paid-up members of the Yale Club of Beijing, and the Oxford and Cambridge Club Beijing, and 150 RMB for guests of members of the Clubs.Please purchase your ticket here via our payment partner, Yoopay. Ticket sales open on 1st May and terminate at midnight on 10th May.
If you are a Yale graduate and wish to register for the hike as a paid-up member of the Yale Club of Beijing, then please ensure your Yale Club registration is up to date. If not, you can register on Yoopay here.
There is a limit of 45 participants, but the hike will be cancelled if less than 35 participants register, in which case all money will be refunded.
Please note that we regret that we cannot offer refunds if you decide not to attend.
Arrangements
The bus departs on Saturday, 18th May at 08:00 sharp from the Agriculture Exhibition Centre in Beijing. The bus will not wait. After finishing the hike at about 5 pm, we expect to be back in Beijing by about 19:00, depending on traffic.
In case of an adverse weather forecast, the hike will be re-scheduled for the following Saturday, 25th May. In this case, participants will be notified by Thursday,16th May.

Please bring:- breakfast (there is nowhere to eat near the departure point)
– lunch – food for yourself and a bit to share with others. Some bread and spreads will be provided by the organisers.
– bring your own water as only one 0.5 L bottle of water will be provided for each participant.
– your PASSPORT or Chinese ID, as we are travelling outside the Beijing municipality.
–  sunscreen and a hat.
Please wear: comfortable walking shoes and appropriate layers of clothing.More details about the hike will follow in the registration email.
Please be advised that all participants are responsible for their own safety during the hike and should carry their own health insurance. The Clubs or Nature University cannot be held liable for any costs incurred due to medical emergencies
